向加热至沸的1,2-二溴乙烷、乙醇和水的混合物中，滴加无水亚硫酸钠的水溶液，加料后继续回流2h，然后蒸出乙醇和未反应的1,2-二溴乙烷。将乙醇加入上述蒸馏剩余物，使2-溴乙磺酸钠从溴化钠和未反应的亚硫酸钠中提取出来，提取时将混合物煮沸，提取液冷却后即结晶出2-溴乙磺酸钠，产率78-90%。
