摘要

Ethyl phenylacetate was alkylated with alkyl and aralkyl halides through the sodio ester, which was prepared by means of sodium amide in liquid ammonia. The methyl, n-butyl, benzyl, and the a-and p-phenylethyl derivatives uere obtained in high yields but the a $- diphenylethyl derivative wes produced in only fair yield along with stilbene.
