pound 12 was refluxed in toluene and hydroiodic acid following the procedure described by Utimoto et al." Compound 14, isolated by column chromatography (20 g of SiOz, 230-400 mesh, eluent MeOH) shows spectral properties that are in good agreement with those described by Kashmann. 12
