&-Biotin has been converted by the Raney nickel hydrogenolysis reaction into dl- desthiobiotin. dl-Allobiotip and dl-epi-allobiotin have been converbd to a common desthio derivative, dl-desthioallobiotin, which differs from dl-desthiobiotin.
