Abstract The synthesis of some thioxanthene derivatives as possible metabolites of Methixerc (VI-hydrochloride) is described. The VON BRAUN degradation of VI with cyanogen bromide leads to the demethyl derivative 9-[(3-piperidyl)-methyl]-thioxanthene (VIII).
