Amino functionalized surfaces have been shown to improve cell adhesion, proliferation and viability. Herein, plasma polymerized cyclopropylamine (CPA) coatings were deposited at sub-atmospheric pressure with a dielectric barrier discharge (DBD) sustained in argon at different W/FM values (Yasuda parameter). The deposited coatings were then analysed with scanning electron microscopy, atomic force microscopy, Fourier transform infrared and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy. Results reveal that changing the deposition time at a fixed W/FM value has no significant effect on the chemical composition of the deposits. It is found that the surface morphology strongly depends on W/FM values. The amino selectivity strongly decreases with increasing W/FM while the total nitrogen and oxygen concentration increases.
