The Cover Feature shows that polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP) stabilizer is selectively removed from gold nanoparticles supported on titania by using NaBH4. In their Full Paper, B. Donoeva and P. E. de Jongh demonstrate that PVP is adsorbed both on the metal nanoparticles and the TiO2 support in a catalyst prepared from PVP-stabilized Au colloid. PVP can be completely removed from the supported nanoparticles by treating with NaBH4, whereas some PVP adsorbed on TiO2 remains on the oxide surface after treatment. The PVP remaining on the TiO2 support has no effect on the optical properties and catalytic performance of gold nanoparticles. The authors thank Dr. Daniil Ovoshchnikov for the design of the cover picture.
