The effect of reaction conditions has been examined in the aluminium tri (cyclohexyloxide) reductions of 1, 3-and 2, 3-dimethyl-9, 10-anthraquinone to 1, 3-and 2, 3- dimethylanthracene. With the use of the same reagent, the following compounds have been also prepared; 1-and 2-methyl-, 1, 2-, 1, 4-, 2, 6-, and 2, 7-dimethyl-, 2, 3, 6-trimethyl-, and 2, 3, 6, 7-tetramethylanthracene. A mechanism of the aluminium tri (cyclohexy {oxide) ...
