Artemisia ketone is a naturally occurring monoterpene having the typical, l, 3 bonding of two isoprene units. The synthesis of alcohols 2, amines and sulfides having this skeleton has been effected by (2, 3) sigmatropic reorrongements of appropriate ylides and carbanions.
