Summary Whereas pentyl sodium in pentane mainly promotes a hydrogedmetal exchange reaction at the m-and p-position of phenylcyclopropane, both the butyllithiuml potassium t- butoxide reagent and trimethylsilylmethyl potassium in tetrahydrofuran convert phenylcyclopropane exclusively into 1-phenylcyclopropyl potassium.
