Abstract: We report the aerobic photoactivation of N-hydroxyphthlimide (NHPI) to the phthalimido-N-oxyl (PINO) radical mediated by naphthalene monoimides (NI) for promoting the selective oxidation of alkylaromatics and allylic compounds to the corresponding hydroperoxides.
