Abstract Chlorination of 1-hydroxyiminopentane gave 1-chloro-1-nitrosopentane which reacted with sodium azide in DMF to form pentanohydroximoyl azide. The azidation of benzohydroximoyl chlorides was always accompanied by decomposition to benzonitriles.
