Abstract The synthesis of a series of tetraorganotin (IV) compounds containing selectively the 2-thienyl, 3-thienyl, 5-methyl-2-thienyl, 5-t-butyl-2-thienyl, 4-methyl-2-thienyl and 3-(2- pyridyl)-2-thienyl groups [L], of formula R 4-n Sn [L] n (R= Ph, p-tolyl, Me, cyclopentyl, cyclohexyl; n= 1–4) is reported. Features of structural interest deduced from 119m Sn Mössbauer and NMR (13 C and 119 Sn modes) spectra are considered.
