OThe number of equivalenta used ia relative to diethyl (E)-2-heptenedioate. All reactione were run at-20 OC for 30-60 min. Stoichiometry was similar for other RMgX-CuCl except when R= vinyl, where 12 equiv of the reagent was necemary. More equiv-alenta of these reagenta did not significantly improve the yields.
