This paper deals with condensation products corresponding to I. There is a close resemblance between the reactions of a,@-unsaturated dinitriles and those of a, p- unsaturated aldehydes and ketones, the resemblance being due to the presence in both classes of substances of a reactive conjugated system, C= C (C= N) z and C= CC= O, respectively.
