2-and 3-monosubstituted examples, the benzophenone framework was constructed by F riedel-C rh reaction of 6-chloro-3-nitrobenzoyl chloride (37) with a suitably substituted benzene 38 (Scheme I). The piperidine subunit 40 was then introduced by nucleophilic displacement of chlorine.
