Several papers have appeared'+ in the literature which have dealt with the reaction involving cleavage of ethanediyl S, S-acetals to ethylene and dithiocarbonate. Recently, Wilson and co-workers have the metalation of several ethanediyl S, S-acetals with n- butyllithium, which resulted in fragmentation to the corresponding thiocarbonyl compound and vinyl thiolate anion.
