Summary X synthesis of-L (p-hydroxyphenyl)-cyclohex-anecarboxylic acid from p- methoxybiphenyl is described..\ cetylation of the ether followed by hypobromite oxitlation gives 4-(p-methoxypheny1)-benzoic acid which is selectively reduced with sodium and amyl alcohol and then demethylated.
