The long chain tertiary phosphine ligands (P(C n H 2n+1 ) 3 and P C m H 2m·1 ) 3 have been used to prepare the following series of platinum, palladium and rhodium complexes: cis-[PtL 2 Cl 2 ], trans-[PdL 2 Cl 2 ], trans-[PtL 2 HCl] (L = trialkylphosphine only), [PtL 4 ] and trans-[RhL 2 Cl(CO)]. The complexes are very soluble in chlorinated solvents and both aliphatic and aromatic hydrocarbons as well as tetrahydrofuran, but either insoluble or only slightly soluble in ...
