Using a condenser equipped with a Dean-Stark trap, a mixture of 4- hydroxy-4-(phenylethynyl)-2, 5-dihydro-2, 2, 5, 5-tetramethyl-furan-3 (W-one (2.58 g, 10 mmol), hydrazine (0.32 g, 10 mmol), and pTsOH.
