摘要

(1) decompositions of alcohols by free-radical pathway^.^ Theoretical and experimental studies of the mechanisms of alkoxide decompositions have considered both heterolytic and homolytic pathways. Here we report the observation of unusual facile fragmentation of the alkoxides of several 9-substituted-9-xanthydrols in THF or C6D6 by either ionic or radical processes, depending on the nature of the substituent and the metal.
