Rate and enthalpy measurements indicate that fluoride ion adds more easily to the C= O bond in H (CF&COCFs than to the C= C bond in H (CF2) 70CF= CF2, at near ambient temperatures in a polar aprotic solvent. When both are present, however, there can be rapid fluoride exchange from the kinetically more favored to the less favored anion; the initial composition thus has little importance.
