摘要

Studies of organic compounds in which the carbon chain has one or more branches have been of great interest, particularly in relation to the phenomena of steric hindrance and molecular rearrangements. The extensive investigations of Whitmore and co-workers2 on the chemistry of the neopentyl group afford an outstanding example of the differences in reactivity and reactions which are exhibited in the more highly-branched compounds.
