摘要

Condensation reactions of nitromethyl p-tolyl sulfone (1) with formaldehyde and benzenesulfinic acid are described. A proposed rationalization of the reaction involves the intermediacy of the vinyl sulfone 6. Some other aldehydes than formaldehyde may be used
