Results Synthesis of Marchantin A (1). According to the scheme described above, we started the synthesis from the preparation of the AC-ring segment. The acetonide 14 of methyl gallate was coupled with p-bromobenzaldehyde in the presence of anhydrous potassium carbonate and cupric oxide (Scheme 11).
