Chiral complexes of platinum (II) were first observed with two CAN coordinated 2, 6- diphenylpyridines as ligands. 1 A strong distortion of the square planar geometry was observed as a consequence of the steric interaction be-tween the two ligands. However, cis- bis [2, 6-diphenylpy-ridine] platinum (II) occurs with both A and A configurations.
