Summary 1. The preparation of 2, 5-dialkoxytetrahydrofurans by catalytic hydrogenation of the corresponding dihydrofurans is described. 2. 2, 5-Diethoxytetrahydrofuran is shown to be convertible to succinaldehyde, 1, 4-butanediol, and, in low yield, to pyrrole and pyrrolidine.
