摘要

The oxidation of primary alcohols with chromic acid generally leads to the formation of appreciable amounts of ester which may be explained in three ways: direct esterification of alcohol with the acid formed from it by oxidation, hemiacetal formation and subsequent oxidation to ester, or oxocarbonium ion formed by oxidation of aldehyde and the attack of this on alcohol.
