Abstract Aliphatic selenonium compounds have been easily prepared by the reaction of alkyl selenide with alkyl halide1), while aromatic selenonium compounds can not be obtained by the same method. Usual preparation of the latter is as follows1, 2): These reactions are relatively troublesome and over-all yields of selenonium compounds are not more than 40% based on selenium.
