An evaluation of the quantitative structureactivity relationships (QSAR) for more than 100 hydroxamic acids revealed that the primary physicochemical feature influencing the in vitro 5- lipoxygenase inhibitory potencies of these compounds is the hydrophobicity of the molecule.
