In this equation EA~H and CA~HD are the extinction coefficients of free and complexed diene, and KI is the equilibrium con- stant for formation of the complex. In some runs on di- methylanthracene and maleic anhydride the reaction rate was followed at one wave length until the diene concentra- tion was a small fraction of its initial value.
