Abstract A versatile synthetic route involving the use of organotin compounds has been applied for the preparation of functionalized oligothiophenes. Thus, substituted α- bithiophenes have been synthesized via the coupling reaction of 2-bromothiophenes with 2- trimethylstannylthiophene.
