己酸酐被用作合成阿昔洛韦a的反应物。为了绿色合成阿昔洛韦二酯(阿昔洛韦前药),为了通过壳聚糖的N-酰化制备己酰基修饰的壳聚糖纳米颗粒,基于壳聚糖的聚合物表面活性剂。

由正已酸与乙烯酮反应而得。将正已酸冷却，通入乙烯酮，然后加热反应，反应结束后进行分馏，在1h内升温至220℃，于常压下蒸去低沸物。随后再减压分馏，收集118-121℃（1.6kPa）馏分，即得成品。
