Abstract

Azo-bis-diphenylmethane,(C~ H~)~ CH--~\'= S-CH (CBH~) Z(I), has been prepared and compared with the isomeric benzophenone benzhydrylhydrazone. The reduction of benzophenone hydrazone to benzhydrylhydrazine by lithium aluminum hydride is described. The azo compound I decomposed in toluene with first-order kinetics, EA= 26.6 kcal. mole-', AS= t= 2.2 cal. mole-'degree-'. Comparison of azomethane, azo-bis-2- ...
