Abstract

The electron density at the double bond of allylamines is sharply reduced from that of enamines, and the competing dimerization of dimethylketene precluded efforts to obtain cycloadducts with such compounds. Higher dialkylketenes, because of their much lower rates of dimeri~ ation,~ could be forced into cycloadditions with allylamines at elevated temperatures.
