Abstract: Photoreduction of 3-methyllumiflavin by a-sulfide-or a-disulfide-substituted carboxylic acids does not give dihydroflavin-4a-sulfur adducts or result in the sulfur-carbon bond scission as claimed previously's2 (eq 7 and 19). Instead decarboxylation of the acid accompanied by dihydroflavin-4a-carbon adduct formation (eq 8 and 10) was shown to occur.
