The Cover Feature illustrates a 3D Ni framework with Li embedded inside (top figure), which enables the fast transfer of electrons and Li ions through the whole electrode and full utilization of the Li electrode. However, a 2D Li structure (bottom figure) leads to a resistive and thick passivation layer, which impedes electrons and Li-ion transport, thereby preventing the utilization of Li at the bottom of the 2D Li foil.
