Summary Methyl y-(6-methoxy-1, 2, 3, 4-tetrahydro-1-naphthy1idene)-crotonate has been prepared by the reaction of 6-methoxy-a-tetralone and methyl y-bromocrotonate in the presence of zinc. This compound was isomerized to methyl y-(G-methoxy-1-naphthyl)- butyrate by heating with palladium-charcoal.
