Abstract

Summary The antibacterial activity of l-protolichesterinic acid is related to its effect on surface tension and not to any significant extent to the unsaturated system. A series of synthetic lactone aliphatic acids of the approximate molecular size of the lichesterinic acids also demonstrate antibacterial activity, particularly against acid-fast bacteria.
