Although no three-membered ring with two heteroatoms had been prepared before 1950, isolable compounds incor- porating two nitrogens (diazirines, diaziridines),l or both nitrogen and oxygen (oxaziranes)1,2 are known to date. Recently, the syntheses of three-membered ring systems comprised solely of heteroatoms (oxadiaziridines and thi- adiaziridine 1, l-di~xides)~ have been reported.
