Abstract

We have previously reported that the chlorination of ethyltrichlorosilane with sulfuryl chloride gives the alpha and beta mono-chlorinated products in a ratio of 1 to 2.5, and that the beta C- C1 bond in the latter is remarkably active, giving quantitative reaction on titration with dilute alkali, whereas the alpha C-Cl bond cannot be titrated in this manner.'To determine the ease of chlorination of gamma carbon in comparison to analogous alpha and beta carbon ...
