Abstract: Re (NAr),(CH-t-Bu) CI (Ar= 2, 6-C&,-i-Prz) reacts with 3 equiv of HCI in diethyl ether to give [ArNH,][Re-(Ct-Bu)(NHAr) CI,](la) as an insoluble orange powder.[NEt,][Re (Ct- Bu)(NHAr) CI,](lb) can be prepared from la by cation exchange. Addition of ZnCI, to lb yields [R~(C-~-BU)(NHA~) CI,]~(Za), an X-ray study of which shows it to be a dimer in which each Re is a square pyramid with the neopentylidyne a-carbon atom in the apical position and ...
