Abstract

Furthermore, since the assumption of the presence of 6-amino-4-ethylpyrimidine in vitamin B1 was based in part upon the nature of absorption bands in related compounds2 and is still open to question as a result of other work, 3 the synthesis of the isomeric 2-amino-4- ethylpyrimidine may be of interest in connection with the structure of this vitamin.
