Abstract

Summary 2, 3-Dimethyl-5-hydroxymethylpyridine and 2,-4-dimethyl-5- hydroxymethylpyridine (3, 4-didesoxypyridoxin) have been synthesized. The former compound exhibited neither vitamin nor anti-vitamin activity, while the latter compound proved to be a weak antagonist for pyridoxin.
