Abstract: We present a complete account of results on the preparation of a polymer which could only be a poly@-phenyleneamineimine)(PPAI) and which, by several criteria, has the same properties of polyaniline (PANI). We also present detailed results of comparative studies of not only PANI with PPAI but of PANI with phenyl-capped octaaniline (COA), a discrete length, fully characterized molecule.
