Abstract

Selenoxides 2, obtained from the selenosulfonation and peracid oxidation of acetylenes, reacted with various nucleophiles to afford the products of overall substitution of the PhSeO moiety. Anions of dimethyl malonate, ethyl acetoacetate, malononitrile, l-(trimethylsilyl) propyne, 1, 3-dithiane, and KCN were successfully employed in this manner, producing y- sulfonyl-substituted a $-unsaturated dicarbonyls 6, 7, 12, and 14, dinitrile 8, enynes 9 and ...
