Abstract

CI H group might favor elimination,(c) the IArz group should be electron releasing while chlorine is electron attracting, and (d) the third carbon-iodine bond should be weak, cf, decomposition of triphenyliodine at about 5'. In any case it has been known for some 20 years that triaryliodines'o decompose readily and in certain cases give excellent yields of diaryliodonium salts. lOJ1
