Abstract

An investigation of the products formed in the Friedel-Crafts reaction between phosphorus trichloride and toluene showed that substantial amounts of the meta isomer, besides lesscr amounts of the ortho isomer, are formed in addition to the predominant formation of the Dara isomer.
