Hexamethylmannito1.-Ten grams of tetramethylmannito1 was methylated according to the method of West and Holden. The product obtained was a colorless sirup which distilled at a bath temperature of 95'under 2 mm. pressure;[a]" D+ 12.53'(no solvent), nalD 1.4403, density 1.0458.
