Abstract

Available data on the oxidation of nitrilotriacetic acid (NTA), ethylenedinitrilotetraacetic acid (EDTA), N-hydroxyethylethylenediaminetriacetic acid (HEDTA), and other aminopolycarboxylate chelating agents are reviewed and the intermediates and products of the oxidative degradation of each chelating agent are described and compared.
